SO HUNG UP

in the beginning of the year, i had to find a way to hang my mirror up. sounds like an extremely simple task {it kind of is}, but it could have been a lot simpler. luckily, there was already a hole in the wall from a previous so strategically hammered nail, allowing me to not have to create my own hole and thus, pay a $25 fine to my leasing company for making one. however, my mirror only came with two hooks on the back on either side, instead of one in the middle. so, i resorted to using wire to hang the mirror {which isn't so, so innovative, i know}, like so:

but, i hated how the wire stood out, which i couldn't prevent as i needed my mirror to be at a certain height, and i didn't want to create another hole in my wall. thus, while also needing a place to put my fedora, i found a perfect spot for it above my mirror. when it's not in use, my fedora is being wonderfully displayed as a piece of art in my room, just as my floral scarf is also draped on a hook. by doing so, i am creating multiple uses for pieces of my closet - a great way to display them even when i'm not wearing them.

NUTELLA CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

heavenly.

FASHION SMASHION or SMASHION FASHION?

something those powerful fashion authorities have probably heard millions of times is:
"i've always wanted to work in fashion."

but what happens when it's true? how do you distinguish yourself from the thousands of other peons dying for the same exact spot you are competing for? how do you know that you're better or more qualified than the next person?

recently, i stumbled across an article titled, "10 Tips for a Career in Fashion." with only one relatively unhelpful tip at the end, it is to the point and without any superfluous fluff. carla isabel recognizes and encourages the fact that, even when working in fashion, fashion should not be the sole driving force behind your life. there are so many other facets to life, which you should enjoy to the fullest and take the time to appreciate, aside from clothes and designers. the following are the four tips i found to be the most valuable and even, thought-inspiring.

COLLEGE DECOR 101

as the daughter of an architect, i think it's in my blood to minimize the amount of empty wall space in my room and to constantly think about how i can make my room more functional, while at the same time aesthetically pleasing. so in the beginning of the year, i created this collage-like poster-thing to cover up a very bare spot in my room out of an anthropologie catalogue. i'll be moving out of this apartment in less than a month, so i guess this is also my way of documenting the sweat, blood, and tears i poured endless minutes into to make my room liveable. i'll miss it. i'll miss my college years at this university.

black and white clock - Target, leaf art - China
but anywho, this is an essentially free and environmentally-friendly way {recycling!} to give some character to a plain white wall. it just takes the right catalogues and/or magazines, the right arrangement, some tape, and a pair of scissors. snip away!

KEEPING IT

piperlime offers a great selection of shoes, clothes, and accessories, including the occasional size-4 shoe for my hard-to-fit feet. thus, every time i come across a pair of absolutely irresistible shoes in my size, i cannot not buy them. in this case, i ordered these Calvin Klein "Whinnie Fish Skin" pumps, with the intention of solely trying them on, only to find that i cannot return them. these shoes and i have established far too strong of an attachment to each other that i cannot let them go.

www.piperlime.com - $108 - sale $74.99

and so it is, and so it will be, that i will keep them.

p.s. i hate to add competition to finding the limited amount of small shoes out there, but other great resources for size-4 shoes are nordstrom.com and emylooshoes.com.
